What do you think of when you hear a woman being described as beautiful? A size zero? A perfectly symmetrical and flawless face? Today’s definition of a beautiful woman is unrealistic and unachievable. Society is flawed with the idea that beauty and attractiveness is everything. Many women go to extreme lengths to become attractive by society's standards. The beauty advertisement industry plays on the fears of women that they are not perfect enough and need to become more beautiful, by using beauty products. The setup of my images was with the intent to mock beauty magazines and the way they photograph products for advertisement. Many beauty magazines will have articles showing off what is in a woman's bag. My images are not just “What’s in my bag”, but what society wants women to have in their bags. They feel that they need all these various things to make them look like society’s definition of beautiful. For each image, I asked many teenagers in my life to give me the products they use to make themselves feel beautiful.
